Ocean Riddles With Answers

I can lose an unreasonable amount of time staring at the ocean, so naturally I also like turning it into riddles. These cover waves, tides, sea life, boats, beaches, and a little ocean science without making you sit through a marine biology lecture first.

How to Use These Ocean Riddles

Start with the easy object clues, then move into animals and ocean science. I like giving kids one category hint before revealing an answer, while adults get to suffer nobly for another thirty seconds.

Every answer is written directly below its clue so you can read these aloud, copy a few into a classroom activity, or use them on a road trip to the coast. The facts stay broad and recognizable so the riddles work even if nobody in the group owns snorkeling gear.
